An enlarged meeting of the organizing committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu(OCIFPGPP) took place on June 8, 2023 through video conferencing.

It was attended by co-chairman, vice chairperson, secretary general and members of the organizing committee, personages of progressive political parties of different countries and members of organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people and international democratic organizations.

Jesus Antonio Carlos Hernandez, general secretary of the Central Committee of the People’s Socialist Party of Mexico who is co-chairman of the festival organizing committee and first vice chairman of the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Committee for Supporting Korea’s Reunification, made a keynote report.

He reviewed the work of OCIFPGPP that faithfully organizing international events to praise the peerless great persons of the DPRK and support socialist Korea over the past five years since its formation in Minsk of Belorussia in April, 2018 and expressing firm support and encourage for the cause of the Korean people who are defending the sovereignty and dignity of the country and building a powerful socialist country.

Next, the co-chairpersons of the festival organizing committee who are the national president of Nigerian People’s Progressive Party Damian Ogbonna, chairman of the African Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People, cochairman of Arabic Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean people Yahia Zakaria Khiralla, vice president of Liberal Socialist Party of Egypt, vice chairman Dermot Hudson, chairman of the UK-Korea Friendship Association and secretary gernaeral Pak Kyong Il, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for the Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, unveiled and discussed the regional work plan of international events for significantly celebrating the 70^th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 75^th founding anniversary of the DPRK and stressed that the organizing committee should conduct more energetic activities in the significant year.

At the meeting they discussed to set the “International Celebration Period to celebrate the 70^th anniversary of Victory of the Korean people in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 75^th founding anniversary of the DPRK” from July 10 to September 15 during which it will organize the various regional activities on the global scale and organize the international E-seminar on the occasion of the 75^th founding anniversary of the DPRK hosted by the OCIFPGPP and to further conduct international solidarity movement for supporting the just cause of the Korean people and hold an enlarged meeting of the organizing committee at the close of the international celebration period for reviewing activities during the celebration period and consult and fix the action plan and they issued a press statement.

The meeting also elected chairman of the International League of People’s Struggle Ren Kuper as co-chairman of the OCIFPGPP and secretary of the National Council of the Communist Party of India Atul Kumar Anjan, ex-chairman of the India-Korea Friendship Association as vice-chairman and the personages from Mongolia, Thailand, Myanmar, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark, Guinea, Morocco, Democratic Congo and Mexico as members of the Secretariat.
