In April 1992 President Kim Il Sung met with a delegation of journalists from the West on a visit to the DPRK.

During the meeting the head of the delegation asked the President that many people say that the President is as healthy as a man of 50s in his 80s so he wants to know its secret and his hobby.

The head of the delegation looked up to the President with inquisitive eyes.

The President looked at him for a while and said that he has no particular hobby or amusement of his own, he is fond of reading and he likes to be with the people sharing their company.

His words went beyond the expectations. So, the head of the delegation said that so far he had heard of lots of heads of state and eminent politicians saying that hunting, angling, swimming and amusement were their hobby, but he had never heard that reading and mixing with the people and sharing their company was the hobby. The hobby of the President is so simple that he doubts whether it can be said to be the hobby or not, but the meaning of the President’s hobby is like the universe, said the head of the delegation.

Indeed, the hobby of the President is the one of world-famous great person in the true sense of the word. Nobody can have it, he added.
