Mt. Osong, 1 050 meters high above sea level, has more than 150 turns.The west and east slopes of the mountain are very steep with 35 to 40 degrees and there are lots of rocks in everywhere. Chairman Kim Jong Il climbed the mountain again and again, saying that the Supreme Commander had to climb the rugged pass in bad weather so that he might acquaint himself with the life of the soldiers.
The Korean people call the mountain which is associated with his undying traces of devotion the mountain of Songun.
