Phyohun
Temple of Mt. Kumgang

The Phyohun Temple situated at the entrance of Manphok valley of Mt. Kumgang was built in the year 670 for the first time.
The existing buildings were built again in the late period of feudal Joson dynasty.
The Panyabojon, the main building, is a typical one showing well the magnificent architectural ornament and refined carving. It is a gabled house with two-ply eaves, 14.09 meters high in the front and 9.4 meters high in the side, built on the pretty high stone platform.
The temple generally shows not only the various changes combining the hip-saddle houses and gabled houses appropriately that placed on central axis of north and south but also the features of the individual buildings.
