It happened in winter of a year.
A trading cargo ship of Panama “White Pella” sailing up its destination after departure from Nampho Port of Korea, started to drift pushed by an ice floe.
On the fifth day the ship was completely sealed up in ice. So, the crewmen sent a message asking for help to their country by radio, but there was no reply.
They were driven to despair and finally sent a message by radio to an organs concerned of Nampho Port.
On the next morning they received a radiotelephone from that organs saying that a plane of the Korean People’s Army will soon be there with drinking water, oil, food, other things and so be ready for receiving them.
After a while the crewmen shouting for joy to see the helicopter, rushed to it.
An official of the Nampho Port got off the helicopter and inquired after the health of the crewmen and explained them in detail about a step taken by Chairman Kim Jong Il .
The moment, the crewmen plumped down, tears rolling down from their eyes.
After all, the crewmen of a trading cargo ship of Panama were rescued from the jaws of death.
They respectfully presented a letter to the Chairman, their great lifesaver, expressing their thanks for such a special step taken by him for the foreign crewmen. .
